Golden Queen Bee

Last night I dreamed that I hugged Beyonce! Wishful thinking, I know. Strange things happened in my dreams anyways, that’s for another time! In any case, it left me a song playing in my head. This song is not a stranger in this blog – Why don’t you love me. This song is possibly one of the best songs live by Queen Bee, if not the best! I love the energy she brings out when she plays and sings the song. I have a love/hate relationship with Beyonce, some days I can’t stand her, other days I think she is one of the coolest cats out there! I really don’t know what it is about her!!

Do you prefer this song live or the recorded version? What do you think of the video?

I Know You Know

This song has been playing in my head all morning, I don’t know why. I love Esperanza Spalding! I think she is such a talented young lady!! I could listen to her all day long! Hope you enjoy this song as much as I do… ;)

The Two Songs

If you know me, you know that I love music beyond anything else. That’s why there are over 40 entries on the music brand (labels)! So to choose only TWO songs is tough for me! I’m going to choose songs that  I absolutely love, but haven’t posted them here yet…

.:Two:.

Whenever this song comes on my mp3 player, I have to put it quite loud to hear all the different instruments. This song makes me smile and in a better mood instantly! This is not her song but Chaka Khan and Rufu‘s song but it is equally as good, even if not better! Erykah Badu is so incredibly talented, I love her voice and music! Another song by her that I absolutely love is  I Want You

.:One:.

Christina Aguilera is one of my favorite singers of my generation! Her second album, Stripped, is one of my favorite albums of all time. Her voice, her music, her words, helped me go through certain situations in my life. That album is so encouraging but it also deals with issues that others may want to stay quiet. This particular song I used to listen to on repeat, even watch  it over and over again.

Tomorrow is the final day, yay! I will post a picture of myself… scary ;). What are some of your favorite songs?

Cross my mind

When I love, I love passionately. I’m a very passionate person in all of the areas of my life. If I’m not passionate about something, it means it doesn’t matter all that much to me. I’m either all in or I have sort of “I don’t care” attitude, that’s just the way I am. Every time I hear this song, it makes me smile. It makes me think of someone. Jill’s voice is amazing, and her talent is beautiful. I adore her so much! She is my inspiration, especially when I’m writing. Hope you enjoy this song!

In Her Honor

Thinking of you, Etta. I will never forget this version of the song, it is very special song to me. Although it’s no comparison to the original, in my book it comes pretty close to that! It’s definitely much better version than Beyonce‘s. It was this particular song, this particular tour, that made Christina Aguilera a true artist! She was set apart from all the other platinum-blond bubblegum pop singers! I still get chills every time I hear this song. I can still remember clearly when I played it to my dad and he was wiping his eyes and told me to pause the DVD. That was when I knew I had a good taste in music, that I appreciate real artists.

Music + Emotions, II.

In my previous post, I talked about emotions and how certain artists are raw in their music. This is one of the most honest, and most raw, songs I’ve ever heard! The first time I heard it on the album, I could feel the pain coming through. I saw a documentary of Christina Aguilera on MTV, and I remember her just laying down in the studio while singing this song. She only rehearsed this song once for the VH1 Storytellers because she wanted to keep the song as raw as possible (that’s why she has the lyrics in front of her). If you just look at her body language, the posture, touching her neck/hair, rocking back and forth, you can just see that it isn’t easy to sing this song.
