Sorry

We’re living exciting times, as my mom would say. It seems that the second half of the year looks quite exciting not only with music but generally with entertainment world. Shows come back from the summer breaks. Great looking movies hit theaters. Awesome artists are dropping singles followed by full new albums.

This time though I’m talking about Ciara. It’s hard to believe she’s been in the scene since 2003 – nearly 10 years now! For fellow Ciara fans, or C-Squad as she calls her fans now, you can expect her fifth album to hit the shelves in December, which is titled One Woman Army. In the meanwhile we can enjoy her latest single Sorry, and expect another single to come out early October!

Are you digging the song? What about her style?

Your Body

The long wait for Christina Aguilera fans is over, the end of the year will be very exciting for her fans as she’s returning to be a coach-judge on the talent show The Voice. Moreover, her new album will be dropped by the end of the year. Currently its scheduled to be released in November! In the meanwhile, we can enjoy the first single from the new album Lotus, the single is called Your Body. Is this a hit or a miss, what do you think?

Love is a four letter word

I’ve lately been listening to Jason Mraz latest album Love is a four letter word, which was released in April. The album is such an awesome album! He is the whitest black singer, he’s got such soul in his music. When I need some calming music, he is one of the artists I turn to. I would love to attend his concert, even more so I’d love to meet him! He looks like he’s the type of person I could just hang out and be inspired by!

On the album itself, this particular song has a very nice intro – makes me laugh each time I hear it – unfortunately I wasn’t able to find it on Youtube. I highly suggest you getting the album, just try it out as it may surprise you!

This particular song is a very special one to me. It brings out some deep emotions within me..

Dazed & Confused

I’ve been following as Azealia Banks career has slowly taken off. Signed by Kanye West, she’s not shy of saying what she’s thinking. It is her mouth that sometimes gets her into trouble as she has beef for many of the other female MCs in the industry. The cover of Dazed & Confused has caused some controversy, and it has been banned from at least 7 countries.

Her latest song, however, is definitely one of my personal favorites by her after the hit single, 212. What I like about the song is the early house-vibe she has kept from her very first hit. I think she has a unique style. If she stays in that path I might just like the rest of her works.

Your thoughts?

New: Brandy ft Chris Brown

This new song is by Brandy feat. Chris Brown, the music video was uploaded on the 14th for their new song Put It Down. Is it me or has Brandy somehow changed? Is it just the way they’ve styled her, the angles, etc? There’s just something different about her. I am quite unsure what to think of the song, even of the video. Why was Breezy in it? Just strange all around.

What do you think?

The Fresh Soulful Songstress

Good news! One of my favorite, inspiring artists has released a new EP The Brooklyn Sessions, vol 1. The 25-year-old Laura Izibor was born and raised in Dublin to an Irish-Nigerian family. I first fell in love with her music back in 2009 with her debut album Let the Truth Be Told, and I’ve been waiting for her to get back in the scene! She is currently working on a new album. In the meanwhile, we can enjoy three new songs from her!

Gracefully is a funky song with some reggae vibes. This song immediately made me dance. I love the song!

He’ll Never Know is another song that has some reggae influences in it. Another favorite of mine, I love her lyrics in the song. (In the song, she mentions Grafton Street, which in the center of Dublin, being a huge shopping street.)

Ring I think is ‘classic’ Laura. It has all the qualities of a hit! Somehow, I like the song the least out of the three.

Take a listen below, and let me know what you think!
